AJPturn1Learn more about Dirt Bike’s review of the PR5 . . . If it’s possible to hurt a motorcycle’s feelings, we probably did it to the AJP PR5. We’re sorry. We won’t do it again. If you don’t know what an AJP PR5 is, don’t worry. Apparently, we didn’t either. AJP is a company out of Portugal that specializes in making inexpensive trail bikes. The parts are sourced from all over the world, but the key to the low price is the Asian-made motors. There are a number of different models, including the PR4 we tested last month, but the PR5 is more of a performance-oriented 249cc off-road bike that sells for under $6000.

DBPR4 thumbExcerpt from Dirt Bike Magazine’s Review of the PR 4. . . Some of the most common complaints we hear about modern bikes concern the retail sticker shock and the expense of maintenance. And on top of this cacophony of complaints from the general whiners and moaners, there is an additional group of complainers lamenting the absence of true off-road bikes for smaller riders.
AJP is a new-to-the-U.S. company that was founded in 1987 in Portugal by AJP himself: seven-time Portuguese National Enduro champion Antonio J. Pinto. In the early years, AJP focused on uber-competitive two-strokes, but even a quick look at the PR4 reveals that the air-cooled, electric-start motor is no enduro championship weapon. Even though the engine has more in common with a Honda CRF230F than a race-spec 250cc, the chassis and running gear have serious off-road credibility.

Looking for a light-weight low seat height off-road dirt bike with Electric start and the look and feel of Free-Ride or Xtrainer? AJP’s PR3 and PR 4 an amazing alternative! The AJP PR M=models are air-cooled with fully adjustable suspension onboard! We offer one of the lowest seat height ranges in off-road!c Look to our Dealer’s Page to find the nearest dealer that can show you or demo a bike at your convenience.

AJP – Experience the Difference!

x The AJP PR3 240 Enduro Pro - The first well equipped Enduro bike that shorter adults (and even teens) can straddle flat-footed with ease. The PR3 has almost all the features and benefits of its bigger brother the PR4, but in an even lighter and easier to manage, low - 34.5 inch seat-height package. Think fully adjustable suspension, electric start, enduro lighting, factory skid plate, racing exhaust, plus full-size disk brakes all around and you begin to get the idea of how capable this motorcycle really is. The PR3 can handle the most demanding terrain with ease - the only thing missing from it is you! The AJP PR series - 2easy2ride...... Notes on our PR3/3.5/4 series model ergos - All 3 models use the same cast aluminum frame spars - so the foot-peg to seat top distances are always the same across the platform. The PR3 & 3.5 use a slightly smaller steel head-tube/engine-cradle frame as compared to the PR4 model. This means the handlebars on the PR4 sit about 1.5 inches higher and 1 inch forward of their location relative to the PR3 & 3.5 models. So the result is a slightly taller and more open rider compartment on the PR4 vs the 2 smaller models....... 2015 AJP PR3 240 Enduro Pro - MSRP $4795 USA ($5395 Canada) Changes for 2015: - Reinforced Steering head - New silencer end cap (now in aluminum) - New front braking system (more power and better feel) - New rear braking system (improved quality) - New graphics/decals

The AJP PR5R 250 Enduro - A brand new model for 2015! We have taken our value packed baseline PR5 model and added a few choice Factory goodies to create this lighter and more powerful enduro weapon! First we sub-out the stock exhaust for a DOMA full Titanium system - adding 3 horsepower and shedding 1lb of weight. Then we throw on a set of AJP Factory billet Aluminum foot-pegs and a lightweight Lithium battery to shave a few more precious pounds. Add it all up and you have a very nimble bike weighing 5lbs less than our standard PR5 model with now a total of 30hp on tap to allow you to take full control of the trails! All these features are offered for a total cost of only $500 more than our PR5 model - an incredible value! Awesome!

A Little more about AJP. . . .
In the early 2000’s AJP applied all their know-how of racing and design into the first PR4 series model using then, a 125 4-stroke engine and a full steel frame.  Already the unique traits affiliated with AJP to this day were used on the early model PR4.  Technical ideas such as a short wheelbase, fuel-tank under seat, narrow stand-over width, and high-end suspension components were present on that very first PR4.

In 2007 the latest version of the AJP frame is introduced – a hybrid Aluminum-Steel structure that combines lightweight and low cost to manufacture in one complete package.  Once this platform was introduced is wasn’t long before the new models started rolling out such as a ergonomically smaller model called the PR3.  The PR3 shares almost all the same components and features with its bigger brother the PR4 with the exception of swing-arm, forks, wheel-set, and frame steering head to seat relationship.  The shorter distance from the steering head to the seat shortens the wheelbase on this model and also allows for riders of smaller build to easily reach the hand controls and feel comfortable on this bike. . . .READ MORE
